New York (March 9, 2006)-Dale and Thomas Popcorn, the first brand in farm-fresh, chef crafted, premium popcorn, is pleased to sponsor the first ever 24 hour Dale and Thomas Dunk Malariathon in New York City, to raise awareness for preventing the spread of Malaria on Malaria Action Day (MAD). Each shot will be a call to action to support Malaria prevention, the more people who show that they care and are taking action; the more the world will open their eyes to the devastating reality of history's worst killer of children-Malaria.

The fatal disease that most commonly affects pregnant women and children under five, kills 1 million people each year and takes the lives of one child every 30 seconds in Africa. The 24 hour Dale and Thomas dunk campaign will begin at midnight on March 19, 2006, with the first shot taken in front of the Dale and Thomas, Time Square store-(48th and Broadway) and will travel around New York City asking people for support of the worthy cause with a dunk for awareness and with contributions.

For this reason we are conducting the world's first 24 hour dunk Malariathon in New York City.  We hope that going forward people will start thinking of bed-nets, which can help prevent the spread of the disease, when they see a basketball net.”
